for the first couple of pages I thought brothers because of the look and how they acted, but further along I just chalk it up to the artist.
I found almost all artists no matter what medium they create in they tend to give characters similar features, as well as you will find if you compare a picture of the artist themselves side by side with the characters in their art, male or female, you will find many similarities as well.
I admit I intentionally mislead people into thinking they’re brothers on the first page to make their relationship with each other understood instantaneously. Hopefully it was clear that they weren’t (or as it turned out, believed that they weren’t) actually brothers in subsequent pages.
It’s definitely true that most artists make similar-looking people, but with rendered 3D models it’s a bit easier to make that an intentional choice. Rune, Justin and King Edgar share the same skin tone, and all the other characters have different ones.
And yes, Rune is only missing clothes in the scene after he was fished out of the river, presumably because his clothes were ruined in the process.

500 years after the banishment of wizards, the kingdom of Valheigh faces the unthinkable: the rediscovery of wizardry and the return of the legendary evil known as the Jinn.
Prince Rune is determined to save his people but an old adversary unleashes a terrible curse: Rune must kill the woman he loves or die himself at her hands.
Note: "Rune: A Tale of Wizards and Kings" completed in 2012. A novella titled "Wizards and Kings: Sacrifice" continues the story from the comic.
